New Project: illustrated map for Hinge
And a lovely autumnal behind the scenes video.
Hi Studio Mates,
As you might know I’m from Amsterdam, and it’s the city’s 750th anniversary this year! SuperHeroes asked me to create an illustrated love map for dating app Hinge, to celebrate this special occasion. I worked on this together with my lovely agents at Folio Art.
Hinge selected twelve beautiful locations in the city that represent romantic love stories from the past, like the Magere Brug, Tuschinski Theater and the Nieuwe Kerk. I learned some interesting things about my city, and almost felt like a tourist discovering them for the first time.
The client asked for a toned down colour palette, in combination with their purple brand colour. It was very important to them to keep the map clean and spacious. They also wanted to feature their mascot Hingie in two places. This is the final result:
You can find the interactive map on the website, and you can click on each number to read the love stories. The map was also printed and sent out to influencers. I hope it inspires them to go on a romantic adventure!
We also created a little behind the scenes video in the busy city center. SuperHeroes and Hokus Fokus gathered a super professional crew, and we had some hilarious encounters with tourists at the Magere Brug. A group of singers on a Canal Cruise boat started to sing for us when they passed by. Even though I was so nervous for the film day, I actually enjoyed my 5 minutes of fame!
